There is no fixed length of time for ABA because each child’s needs and developmental goals are different. Therapy is meant to support the child until they acquire and consistently use the skills needed for greater independence at home, school, and in the community.
As skills improve and generalize, therapy hours are gradually reduced. Some intensive programs last around two years, but this varies widely depending on progress, family resources, and the level of support required for long-term success.
The focus is on helping the child transition into less restrictive environments and reducing services when they are no longer needed—not keeping them in therapy indefinitely.
Seek guidance if you feel therapy hours are not adjusting over time, if progress seems unchanged, or if goals do not reflect your child’s current needs.
Understanding where to begin can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. You can learn more about our approach on our site, or if you'd rather talk it through with a coordinator, feel free to get in touch.
